Meet Our Staff

Robert Henderlite

Owner & Board Certfied Ocularist

Robert grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1987 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.  However, a calling to a more specialized and patient-focused career led him to the decision to relocate to Charleston, SC and begin his apprenticeship under his father, ocularist Hunter Henderlite.

Equipped with his BCO certification through the National Examining Board of Ocularists and years of experience, Robert founded Southeastern Ocularists, Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1993. Under his leadership, the practice has grown into a trusted regional center for custom ocular prosthetics. Robert takes great pride in his work and especially enjoys making a difference in the lives of his patients.

When Robert is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his two children, Hunter and Reagan, and also stays active playing tennis, volleyball, basketball, golf, fishing and camping.

Joshua Hrdlick

Board Certified Ocularist

Josh returned to his home state of North Carolina in 2018 after spending the majority of his life in Illinois. His unique journey to becoming an Ocularist began with a strong foundation in the visual arts and design.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2014 with a BA of Fine Arts and minors in Art History and Photography.  During that time, he enjoyed playing for the SIU Rugby team and volunteered with multiple organizations while traveling to Peru and Thailand.  After several years of working as a graphic designer, he chose to utilize his creative skills in a different way – making the pivotal transition into becoming an ocularist, training under Robert Henderlite.

In July of 2025 he obtained his Board Certification through the National Examining Board of Ocularists.  He is a member of the American Society of Ocularists and closely follows the standards and advancements set by the International Academy of Ocularists.

Josh finds immense satisfaction in the meaningful work he does.  Outside of the office, he prioritizes family time by going on weekend trips with his wife and 3 boys.  His adventurous spirit is fueled by a deep curiosity about the world and he hopes to someday visit every continent at least once in his lifetime.

Armon Akhlaghi

Board Certified Ocularist

Armon attended Appalachian State University, graduating with a bachelor of science in exercise science and a minor in psychology. During that time, he was a resident assistant where he successfully fostered a safe and inclusive community among a diverse population by mediating conflicts, tending to each resident’s needs, and maintaining confidentiality. He was recognized for his student leadership with the NRHH Bronze Pin. During his last portion of his time in college, Armon shadowed a chiropractor where he learned the importance of the vitalistic health model.

Armon has shadowed multiple ocularists during his time in the field.  This concentrated training has given Armon an in-depth understanding of two distinctly different methods on how to accurately fabricate an ocular prosthesis and scleral shell.

In December of 2025 he obtained his Board Certification through the National Examining Board of Ocularists.  He is a member of the American Society of Ocularists and closely follows the standards and advancements set by the International Academy of Ocularists.

Outside of work, Armon enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring the outdoors, and food from various cultures. He is also a music lover and his favorite form of pass time is attending concerts across a wide variety of genres.

Jeanie Nance

Office Manager

Jeanie joined the Southeastern Ocularists, Inc. team in June of 2017, bringing her vast expertise to North Carolina from her previous home in West Virginia. With over 20 years of experience in the dynamic medical office environment, Jeanie oversees all of our daily operations.

She has truly “worn many hats” throughout her career—from managing complex billing scenarios to providing patient coordination and scheduling.

Jeanie provides above-and-beyond care to our patients. She is often the first voice you hear and the last friendly face you see, ensuring that patients feel supported, informed, and comfortable both before and after their appointments.

When she is not working, she enjoys her time on the lake fishing with her husband and their brittany spaniels.

Samantha Thomas

Medical Billing Specialist

Samantha joined our team in September of 2018.  She is the powerhouse behind our financial operations, bringing extensive and specialized experience in complex medical billing.

Her primary role is to act as the expert liaison between our patients, the practice, and numerous insurance carriers. She is dedicated to ensuring that every claim is processed accurately and efficiently, helping our patients and their insurance companies navigate smoothly through the entire claims process. Whether it’s verifying benefits, handling pre-authorizations, or submitting final claims, Samantha helps navigate the often-confusing world of medical insurance to minimize patient stress.

Samantha is our go-to specialist for handling Veterans Affairs (VA) claims. She ensures our veterans receive the benefits and care they deserve.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, sewing, reading, gardening, working out and going on nature walks with her husband, Randy.

Rosie Grace

Rosie Grace

Emotional Support Pup / Guard Dog

Rosie Grace has been with us since 2018 and has grown into her role as the office guard dog and Chief Patient Greeter.

Though she may appear to be resting, she is actually maintaining maximum alert status against any invading birds or lizards that may infiltrate our office.

She spends most of her day looking out the window daydreaming of swimming in the lake and going bass fishing on the boat with her daddy.

Max

Emotional Support Pup / Guard Dog

While his sister, Rosie Grace, enjoys a well-deserved sabbatical, Max has enthusiastically picked up where she left off as the official patient greeter for Southeastern Ocularists, Inc.

Max takes his responsibilities seriously, ensuring a warm welcome for everyone who steps through our doors. He eagerly greets each and every patient that approaches the front desk, offering a comforting presence for anyone with anxieties before their appointment.
