Just cleaning your prosthesis by hand at home will not be enough to ensure eye socket health and prosthesis comfort. Your artificial eye should be properly taken care of and brought in every 6 months to your Board Certified Ocularist for a polishing. These appointments are basically check ups and should only take about 15-30 minutes. At these appointments we are able to clear off any residue or thin mucous layers on the front and back surfaces of the prosthesis, as well as examine the fit and progress of the prosthetic eye. Be sure to schedule this appointment every 6 months by calling our front desk at (704) 510-9292
